Tis the season… for peaceful protest! This weekend we saw thousands of women and men take to the streets peacefully marching for equality, among many other things. It’s safe to say there’s a lot on the line that needs to be fought for right now. No matter what your political view, I think we should all be able to get behind equal rights and opportunities for EVERYBODY.
That was the focus at today’s Women’s March in Lansing. I attended with my roommate and some friends, and had a lovely and inspiring time. Being in a crowd of people all motivated to fight for the same ideals that I hold dear was extremely uplifting. The stars were aligned in our favor as well as the weather was a mild 40 degrees!
I hope to attend more events like this in the future, until we have what we are fighting for: equality for all, whether that be in paycheck, education, or any other opportunity. Many other issues were touched on as well including the environment, immigration, the LGBTQ community, to name a few. It’s tough to recognize that there are so many wrongs happening, but affirming to know there are many fighting to make it right.
What are your thoughts on the protests and marches?
