Girls Weekend Chicago Recap

For the last two years, my two best friends from high school and I use our mutual Spring Break weekend as an excuse to tear up Chicago together. Unfortunately we all very stupidly chose different colleges, so most of the time we are all apart, but Alyse very wisely chose a Chicago college so we have a lovely apartment to stay in and have fun in all weekend. This year was no exception, as we perfected the art of going out as much as possible, homemade meals, and downtown window shopping.

Alicia and I drove in on Friday, stopping for birthday essentials such as a crown, a Hooray banner, and party hats, as well as build-your-own 6 packs at Mega-Bev. I am not ashamed to admit we also had some Taco Bell. Those nacho fries are delicious.

Friday night was a lovely combination of homemade dinner and a cheese and meat platter to complement our cocktails at Pops for Champagne. I’m a frequent Chicago visitor having family and have long been waiting to go into Pops, and as a legal drinking adult that dream finally came true (yay!). We followed Pops with a visit to Howl at the Moon before heading home.

Saturday was for sleeping in, avocado toast, and then roaming the Mag Mile while window shopping. Of course being in the vicinity, and celebrating Alicia’s 22nd birthday, we had to pay a visit to the Sprinkles ATM. It was very entertaining and very pink, so ina word, perfect. Eventually we took a tour of Blick and considered art options for the afternoon before heading back for naps and quiet time. We are quite the rowdy bunch clearly.

Saturday night we got to meet more of Alyse’s friends after another homemade dinner and a pre-party of our own featuring champagne and a photo shoot (naturally). We followed this up with pancakes in the morning to complete a perfect weekend!

Afterwards I headed out to see the family in the suburbs, where my Mom and Joe met me before out departure to Memphis.
