One of the highlights of the changing seasons of the North is, of course, a whole “new” wardrobe. Saying so long to summer sundresses is sad, but wrapping up in turtlenecks and cashmere just feels right when the leaves begin to change. I welcome my dark wash denim back into the front of my wardrobe, with all their accompanying blazers, boots, and sweaters. As someone who abhors being cold, layers are my best friend and as they say, ‘it’s the season!
With the cooler temperatures I can’t help but lust after the seasonal windows I pass in New York with their leather and denim showcasing some of my favorite Fall fashions. Here is a roundup of all the gorgeous style finds that speak to the excitement of Summer giving way to Autumn.
A good leather boot
There’s nothing I love more in Fall than bringing out my brown leather boots and ankle boots. My feet are happy and warm in thick socks inside the quintessential Fall footwear, and my riding boots make it look like I could be on the way to a trail ride rather than work. All the below picks are under $100 and will ensure your feet stay cozy and in style.
A thick knit sweater
The thicker the better since wind is persistent and I’m always cold. The chilly Fall wind always takes me slightly by surprise and it’s helpful to have layers to keep warm. All the below sweaters are impossibly chic and under $100, including a cheetah print option which is on trend right now.
A cozy transitional scarf
Best way to block the wind? Cover your neck! These options add yet another layer without looking too much like outerwear, so you can wear them around the office and stay warm without looking like you’re outside. The blanket scarf in the middle is a perfect Fall plaid and under $50.
Gold screams Autumn to me, and these delicate pieces are perfect for layering to add a flash of glamor to a layered outfit. It makes every look more polished and the warm tones match the changing leaves. The bracelet linked is under $50.
Dark wash denim
Denim is a year round staple but when the temperatures drop, dark denim feels so right. Paired well with brown leather and gold accessories, dark wash feels right in the colder seasons and looks more refined than the lighter washes that look more comfortable in summer months.
A foolproof way to keep the wind out without a scarf: the turtleneck. Easily the coziest Fall and Winter sweater, it works in any colder climate and keeps you covered, stylish, and warm. Turtlenecks are my best friend from October to March. The maroon option is only $40 and such a great color for Fall!
A coat that screams cozy
To top it all off, a stylish coat to brace against the wind in the evenings. Nothing beats a classic trench but a cozy wrapped style with a cinched waist or a structured boucle in a Autumn plaid do the trick just as stylishly. The first two options linked are a steal at under $150.
