The weekend before my London trip, my lovely friend came up from Baltimore for an NYC weekend visit. We had an amazing time, eating amazing food, wandering Manhattan’s more scenic streets, and seeing a Broadway show.
We kicked off the weekend with delicious pasta in Gramercy, mine topped with hazelnuts and filled with squash which felt right for the season. Afterwards we headed uptown for dessert at the Russian Tea Room. The scenery of the restaurant itself was festive and fun but the blintzes I had were out of this world.
The next day we got up early and went all the from Brooklyn to near the Bronx to see the Met cloisters. The courtyards were beautiful and the nearby nature was refreshing. Afterwards we went back downtown to the park side Met and ended up with drinks on the roof. It was a perfect sunny day and the drink was amazing.
We headed to Eataly by the Flatiron building for an early dinner at the gorgeous rooftop restaurant Serra. Between the decorations and the food (I had swordfish) everything was perfection. We went to Rockefeller afterwards to take in the felt delicatessen pop ups with all of its adorable smiling produce, meats, etc. After laughing at all the adorable felt products we headed over to Broadway to see Chicago, an old favorite of mine.
We spent Sunday in the West Village, visiting local boutiques and eating desserts at Magnolia. Not to mention the adorable Halloween decorations in the neighborhood.
It was an action packed and amazing weekend being a tourist in my own town. Having visitors always makes my weekend, especially when it’s an old friend who I haven’t seen in so long.
