NYC to Detroit

This past week has been a perfect combination of escaping the cold through brunches with friends in the city and time spent home in Michigan. Last Sunday New York was sunny and bright as I met two friends for brunch in Kips Bay. We split pancakes, avocado toast, and halloumi cheese while catching up. We ended up at the Gem Saloon to finish the conversation which was a bit unnerving to see in daylight after a few late nights at the bar.

The week progressed busy as usual and ended with an early morning flight to Detroit on Wednesday to see family and friends since covid ruined that for the most part over the holiday. I worked from home for the rest of the week before we headed for the west side of the state for a family weekend in South Haven. While I escaped the NYC blizzard, we stayed indoors (other than an ice skating evening) to avoid the Michigan weather while playing games and eating the best food.

As I head back to NY tomorrow morning I’m so grateful for the ability to work from home so that I can take quick trips home to see the people I care about without taking time off.
